The ladies in white wedding

A lifetime in tailoring means a lifetime of memorable commissions and Geoffrey Golding added another to his remarkable archive when he designed outfits for a couple advancing their loving relationship from shipmates (having met whilst sailing the Ionian Sea) to that of Civil Marriage.

Julia-Ann Clayton and Sarah-Jane Hart, who live in Salisbury, Wiltshire, were married at the romantic setting of the Larmer Tree Gardens, Tollard Royal, on 22nd October 2016.

They had heard of Geoffrey Golding’s reputation for top quality tailoring from Julia’s former mess night colleagues in the Army who had regaled her with stories of his tailoring prowess.

In discussion, the couple agreed to Geoffrey’s concept of matching white silk brocade jackets and trousers enhanced by blue velvet bibs, trimmed with silver Russia braid. The outcome? Sheer elegance, beautifully complemented by the magnificent white Rolls-Royce featured in our photograph of the happy couple.

Julia, former Assistant Chief Constable of Wiltshire Constabulary (now retired) and Sarah-Jane, owner and director of DriveHart, have been together for four years.

Geoffrey Golding’s contribution to their special day meant a great deal to them. Julia and Sarah said: “He gave us such a special gift. We both felt magnificent. The suits were truly unique and magical and the whole design service through to delivery by the Golding team was brilliant.”

Geoffrey’s response: “It was a real design challenge, but also a lovely thing to do. It was clear these two ladies were very much attached to one another.”
